Bonfa, Luiz: Luiz Bonfa Plays & Sings Bossa Nova (Vinyl LP)
Tax included.
A musician of virtuosity, subtlety, and passion, guitarist, singer and composer Luiz Bonfá (1922-2001) ranks among the key architects of the bossa nova sound and the greatest masters of Brazilian popular music of the 20th century.
As a composer and performer, Bonfá was at heart an exponent of the bold, lyrical, lushly orchestrated, and emotionally charged samba-canção style that predated the arrival of João Gilberto's more refined and subdued bossa nova style. Presented here is one of his greatest albums, Plays & Sings Bossa Nova, on which he collaborates with such stars as Leo Wright, Oscar Castro-Neves and Lalo Schifrin.
This superb release includes Bonfá's classic version of his tune "Manhã de Carnaval" (aka "Black Orpheus"), among many other highlights.
