Clap Your Hands Say Yeah: Burned

Alec Ounsworth had weathered a storm. As with every Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album, Burned emerged from the good and bad of life, with songs cataloging the journey from loss to renewed hope.

Arriving six years after New Fragility, this seventh album is both a long-awaited return and an immediate collection of songs born from grief, confusion, and heartbreak. Following the dissolution of a relationship and the subsequent loss of his mother, uncle, and close friend, Ounsworth worked to step back from “negative writing” determined that Burned wouldn’t be ‘all doom and gloom’.

After revisiting the feverish timbre of the artist’s first record on a 2025 anniversary tour, he wrote with the live experience in mind, crafting a vibrant, dynamic collection that picks up from the zigs and zags longtime fans have followed over two decades.
